The BitConvert Data Storage Converter translates digital sizes across the full range of units, from a single bit and byte up through kilobytes, megabytes, gigabytes, terabytes, and petabytes. A built-in toggle lets you switch between two standards that are easy to confuse.
In SI (decimal) mode each step is a power of 1000, so 1 KB is 1,000 bytes and 1 GB is 1,000,000,000 bytes. In binary (IEC) mode each step is a power of 1024, giving the kibibyte, mebibyte, gibibyte, tebibyte, and pebibyte, so 1 GiB equals 1,073,741,824 bytes. This is exactly why a drive advertised as 1 TB shows up smaller in an operating system that reports GiB. Pick the standard, enter a value, and compare every unit at once.
